Abandoned checkout recovery
The free plugin counts abandoned checkouts. Pro emails the people behind them: once an hour after they leave, and once more three days later with a discount code that works for them alone. Both go only to buyers who ticked the box at checkout asking to be reminded.
What Pro adds over the free count
Section titled “What Pro adds over the free count”Free records that a checkout was started and not finished — how many, worth how much, which step — and keeps no address. Pro keeps the address where the buyer consented to it, and sends the two emails. Reports shows how many of each went out and how many buyers came back and bought.
Consent, taken at the checkout
Section titled “Consent, taken at the checkout”Beside the email field there is a checkbox: Email me if I do not finish, so I can pick up where I left off. Whether it is ticked by default depends on the funnel’s market — EU markets expect an explicit tick, US markets normally do not. Nobody who left the box unticked is emailed, and their address is not kept.
The sequence
Section titled “The sequence”- One hour later — You left your Pour-Over Kit behind. The basket, and a link back to the checkout that picks up where they left off.
- Three days later — Still thinking about your Pour-Over Kit? The same link, plus a discount code minted for that person from a coupon template you choose under Settings. The code works once and only for them, so it cannot be shared or posted.
The second email says so itself: If you would rather not hear about this again, ignore this email — there is no second reminder after this one. There is not.
Two emails, not a sequence builder. Metorik’s data says two is where the return is; anything more elaborate belongs in an automation tool, and the abandonment event is exposed for one to take over.
Why this matters more on a funnel
Section titled “Why this matters more on a funnel”Funnel traffic is usually paid traffic, so an abandoned checkout is ad spend already spent. Recovery is not incremental revenue; it is recovering acquisition cost.
Stopping
Section titled “Stopping”Deactivating Pro, or letting the licence lapse, stops the sending without losing the counts. Emails go out through WordPress mail, so set up an SMTP plugin first, or they may never arrive.
