One-click upsells and downsells

A one-click upsell is a page shown after payment where the buyer accepts a second offer without typing their card again. Cartless Pro charges the payment method saved at checkout, records the second charge against the original order, and sends the buyer on to the thank-you page — or, if they decline, to a downsell.

Why this is Pro and the order bump is free

Section titled “Why this is Pro and the order bump is free”

An order bump is one charge with an extra line. An upsell needs a saved payment method, a second charge, and inline 3D Secure when the bank asks for it. The free plugin never saves a card; Pro saves it only on a funnel that actually has an upsell step, with a consent sentence shown beside the pay button so the buyer knows a later step may charge the same card.

Their card was never saved, so they will not see one-click offers if they come back. Only buyers who check out after Pro is active — on a funnel with an upsell step — get it.

  1. In the funnel editor, on the Steps tab, add a step with the role Upsell and, if you want one, a step with the role Downsell. Each is a real page you can edit.
  2. On the Offers tab, attach a product to each step.
  3. Routing: the checkout’s accept and decline both lead to the upsell; the upsell’s accept goes to thanks and its decline to the downsell; the downsell goes to thanks either way.

The upsell page shows the offer, the price, and two buttons. Accepting charges the saved card on the spot; if the bank requires authentication, it happens right there on the page. Declining charges nothing and moves on. Either way the original order is already paid — an upsell can never put the first sale at risk.
